You can never go wrong with this classic summer dessert. Not only is it flavourful and delicious, but extremely easy to make. The best part is that you can play around with the quantities and ingredients as much as you want and never go wrong. I chose this specific recipe because I love how the light strawberry whipped cream complements the mixed berry and chocolate filling so perfectly. It is best to serve the trifle in glasses to show off the layers of berry and cream.
Serves 4 cups
For the Strawberry Whipped Cream
2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup strawberries
1 tsp lemon
Pinch of cinnamon
Maple syrup as desired
For the trifle
2 cups of a mixture of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries
1/4 cup of melted dark chocolate
To make the strawberry whipped cream:
- Whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer or handheld blender until it reaches soft peaks.
- Using a food processor, blend the strawberries and strain into the whipped cream. Add in the lemon, cinnamon and maple syrup, and fold gently. Make sure you do not mix too much in order to prevent the whipped cream from turning runny.
Time to assemble your trifle!
- Layer the mixed berries with your strawberry whipped cream using desired quantities. Evenly sparse them out among four clear glasses.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the final heaping of whipped cream.
- Top with nuts if desired
- Serve and enjoy!
